Week 22 – Bulgari Resort Dubai

One day while searching online for an iftar that I could book for my company to attend, I came across an advert for an iftar being held at the newly opened Bulgari Resort.

The hotel is incredibly swanky, yet the iftar was not ridiculously overpriced, so I figured this would be a great opportunity to get out to the hotel just for the sake of seeing it and pretending to be swanky and posh for a night… so I made a reservation for J & I to enjoy an iftar at the Bulgari Majlis.

I don’t really have much to say about this (shocker, I know!) so I’ll rather just let you see from the few photos I took on the night 🙂

And because my photos don’t really do the hotel much justice, here are a couple taken from Google:

Week 24: Running to breakfast finale

It’s with a sad heart that I type up this post as the last Running to Breakfast in the original series 😥

My friend Nat is about to make her way on to new ventures in the big wide world and so with only Sara & I of the actual Running to Breakfast crew left, it won’t quite be the same… who knows, maybe we’ll get something similar going but for now, this past weekend was our goodbye.

Running to Breakfast crew

We headed out to Palm Jumeirah, which made it a new run for me. We parked out on the east crescent, hopped out the car, did some ‘warm-ups’ and then started walking… which of course is not the point! So we all agreed that “at that rubbish bin we start running”, and so we did.

It never gets old to say IT. IS. HOT! I forgot to check the temperature and humidity before we ran, but when we got in the car post-run, it was 38 ºC 😮

Morning kayaker making his way around the palm

We managed 6.5 km’s that morning – possibly about 1.5 km’s of that would have been walking, but it was a good effort regardless, and an enjoyable last run with just the 3 of us.

The ‘enchanted forest’ (that’s me on the ledge) that’s built under the bridge onto the crescent

And of course, it was followed by heading off to breakfast – and once again it involved doing a quick Google search for open places during Ramadan.

We settled on a place in Jumierah Lakes Towers – but for the life of me I cannot recall what the name is 😳 Cluster T, opposite The Pullman Hotel, Ground Floor of Fortune Tower.

It was a super yummy breakfast with many supremely healthy options which worked well for our post-run breakfast 🙂 Silly me forgot to take a photo of the food though. DOH!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Spare

When I saw the theme for this week’s photo challenge – Spare – I was a little confused as to where I would even start looking for photos. Then I had a look at a few that had already been posted by fellow bloggers and most people seemed to be going for the idea of spare being vast open landscapes of sorts.

I decided against that and have gone for more of the literal meaning of spare… I hope you’ll enjoy my choices 🙂

Spare parts

Spare food / personal belongings – this was at a volunteer day that I took part in where we put together 100’s of boxes for labourers during Ramadan, and with Ramadan starting next week, I thought this very fitting!
