Week 24: Running to breakfast finale

It’s with a sad heart that I type up this post as the last Running to Breakfast in the original series ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

My friend Nat is about to make her way on to new ventures in the big wide world and so with only Sara & I of the actual Running to Breakfast crew left, it won’t quite be the same… who knows, maybe we’ll get something similar going but for now, this past weekend was our goodbye.

Running to Breakfast crew

We headed out to Palm Jumeirah, which made it a new run for me. We parked out on the east crescent, hopped out the car, did some ‘warm-ups’ and then started walking… which of course is not the point! So we all agreed that “at that rubbish bin we start running”, and so we did.

It never gets old to say IT. IS. HOT! I forgot to check the temperature and humidity before we ran, but when we got in the car post-run, it was 38ย ยบC ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Morning kayaker making his way around the palm

We managed 6.5 km’s that morning – possibly about 1.5 km’s of that would have been walking, but it was a good effort regardless, and an enjoyable last run with just the 3 of us.

The ‘enchanted forest’ (that’s me on the ledge) that’s built under the bridge onto the crescent

And of course, it was followed by heading off to breakfast – and once again it involved doing a quick Google search for open places during Ramadan.

We settled on a place in Jumierah Lakes Towers – but for the life of me I cannot recall what the name is ๐Ÿ˜ณ Cluster T, opposite The Pullman Hotel, Ground Floor of Fortune Tower.

It was a super yummy breakfast with many supremely healthy options which worked well for our post-run breakfast ๐Ÿ™‚ Silly me forgot to take a photo of the food though. DOH!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Spare

When I saw the theme for this week’s photo challenge – Spare – I was a little confused as to where I would even start looking for photos. Then I had a look at a few that had already been posted by fellow bloggers and most people seemed to be going for the idea of spare being vast open landscapes of sorts.

I decided against that and have gone for more of the literal meaning of spare… I hope you’ll enjoy my choices ๐Ÿ™‚

Spare parts

Spare food / personal belongings – this was at a volunteer day that I took part in where we put together 100’s of boxes for labourers during Ramadan, and with Ramadan starting next week, I thought this very fitting!

# 25 – New people, new places, new experiences

I get to lump 3 new things into one entry this week (which is why the post is a day late – sorry!) ๐Ÿ™‚

Iย met some new people, I went to a restaurant / hotel I’d never been to before, and I got invited to a ‘bloggers’ Iftar dinner. Win. Win. Win!

I’ve been following a Dubai blogger over at liloneoftheashes for quite some time now. We comment on each others posts, we read each other’s twitters and apparently we were both at the sushi tasting night that I went to a while back! But of course since neither of us knows what the other looks like, we had no idea! So when I got an invite from her to join a bloggers Iftar night I jumped at the opportunity to meet this fellow Dubai blogger, and a few others who were going to be there ๐Ÿ™‚

Dinner was held at Le Royal Meridien hotel in Dubai Marina. We decided to meet in the lobby so that we could get a brief intro to one another, and to not walk in alone. The dinner was arranged by the Social Media Coordinator over at Le Royal Meridien hotel, and while there was no expectation to blog (or have any content on any social media platform), of course I just had to include this fun night as my something new for the week ๐Ÿ™‚

And what a fun night it was!

There were 11 of us girls in total – 2 girls from the hotel, plus a few bloggers and then some girls who were just friends of the bloggers. The night flowed really easily with conversations ranging from politics to teeth whitening, and all of us giggling like school girls at some parts of the conversations that were going on! Really great bunch of people.

The food, well, what can I say other than DELICIOUS! Oh wait, I can also say that there was no shortage of selections, a seriously impressive amount of dessert selections and just overall really fabulously put out. The stations were divided up into a roast station, a schwarma station, sushi, cold meats, salads, soup, kids section, dessert(s)… I’m possibly missing something!

I took my camera with me to get some good food shots but because we were so busy chatting most of the night I didn’t really get that many… but here are a few that I did take, just to whet your appetite. YUM!
