Week 36 – At.mosphere

It’s great to think that a year ago I was writing up a post about a date night that I went on, which was all ‘new’ and got to feature in my something new posts…. and now one year on I’m writing up the anniversary dinner that J and I enjoyed last week ❀ πŸ™‚

We had a couple of ideas thrown around but then he suggested At.mosphere – the restaurant on the 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa… and since I’ve never done that, it was an easy decision to make.

I don’t have much to say about it other than it was FABULOUS! The view is spectacular – especially if you’re there on a clear night, which, fortunately, we were – the food is delicious, the service is great.
It’s an all-round fantastic evening, so if you’re looking for something a bit extraordinary, or want to celebrate somewhere, I highly recommend this!

Week 32 – La Mer

It was time for a date night for us so I incorporated my something new into that when J asked me what I’d like to do… “Let’s try out La Mer and find somewhere there to go for dinner”

So we did!

Probably not the best time of year to be walking around outside – even at night – because it’s HOT, and HUMID… but somehow we managed to time it right that the particular night we went on was only sitting at around 40-something percent humidity. Only.

Anyway, we faced the heat and walked the length of La Mer, looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner.
The place is HUGE and once the weather cools down, I think it’s going to be really lovely to walk along the boardwalk, enjoying ice creams, lunches, dinners etc. They even have a waterpark!

We settled on having Greek for dinner, which I found quite coincidental (and it kinda tugged at my romantic heart-strings) since it was a year ago that weekend that we met in Greece ❀

Dinner was very good – the food was yummy, the service great (hard to not be when there are onlyΒ  a handful of tables in the restaurant), and the price was decent. The food came to the table very quickly too which was good.

I’m pretty sure that once the temperatures die down, that place is going to be a hot spot for everyone to enjoy a night out – they even have a couple of places that are licensed so you’ll be able to enjoy that beer while having lunch or dinner too πŸ˜‰

Week 27 – La Perle!

Yes I know, I’ve been rather quiet the last few weeks… apologies! No excuses other than that I’ve just not had much to write about, and that I’ve just been a bit preoccupied! But I’ve been a bit more active on Instagram so if you don’t already follow me, you should head on over there now (@mynuttyinsta) and have a look πŸ™‚

And being preoccupied means that I’m now also a bit behind in my postings, so I’m trying to do a bit of catching up! I’ll start with my something new from the week of 1 – 7 July.

J and I went to watch La Perle!!!!!

La Perle is an ‘interactive theatre experience’ and is a permanent performance here in Dubai. It’s had some absolutely amazing reviews and many of my friends have gone and said it’s fantastic… so I had to see for myself.

But we were a little disappointed 😦

I’m not sure if that’s because we’ve both been very lucky to have attended acrobatic shows / performances around the world that were just *that* little bit better than this, or if it’s because the theatre was pretty empty, or if it’s because the story-line is kinda weak.

However, saying all that… there are some really impressive moments (I won’t give them away), and if you’ve not seen many other shows similar to this, then you will absolutely LOVE it. Maybe I’m just a bit spoiled?!

Here are a few pics from the night.

The photo that has the ‘blimp’ circled in white – that blimp is an actor diving off a ladder, into the pool of water below… and to give you an idea of just how high up he is diving from, look at how far up the people on the ground are looking!

Overall an enjoyable night doing something different, because, well, I love to!
