Week 29 – My girls and exams!

What a week this was – the week of 16 to 22 July!

I returned home from my fabulous holiday in Zanzibar with the family on Sunday 15th July… back at work on the 16th, and then on the 17th I received my results for my first lot of exams written for my English Degree….

and I passed them!!!!!
Year 1 down, hopefully only another 3 to go, depending on if I end up splitting any others (or failing anythingΒ πŸ™ˆΒ )

And to celebrate my passing (well, it was just coincidental that it was the same night as my results but it turned out great) was a night out with the girls to go watch the Mamma Mia 2 movie before it hit the big screens πŸ™‚
This was SUCH a fun night out with the girls…. and watching the movie in a cinema full of Mamma Mia absolute fans was great as every song was sung along to!

Thanks girls for making my day extra special ❀

Week 5 – Tribeca

Time for a night out with the girls!

Eating, drinking, chatting… a perfect combination for a group of girls on a Thursday night – and even better when it’s a package deal that doesn’t break the bank!

We decided to try out TriBeCa, located at the JA Ocean View hotel, JBR. It’s been around for a while, but since I’ve never been there, well, that makes it something new πŸ˜‰

They have a live Jamaican Band on Thursday nights to get you in the party mood, and a teddy bear who hangs out on the speakers – just in case you need a cuddle πŸ˜‰

On arrival (after battling out the Marina traffic!) we were all pretty much in need of a cold beverage and food… and thankfully neither of these took long to arrive! Since we were all going for the package deal option, the food came out super quickly – sharing starters are brought to the table, and once you’re done with them, if you feel like you need more, you just ask! And they’ll bring!

But don’t get too full on the yummy starters – flatbread, chicken wraps, nachos – because the mains are still coming, and there’s dessert!

The mains are a pick-one-item kinda effort – between the 6 of us we ended up choosing either the cod or the risotto. The risotto was the hit of the table!

They then give you a nice break between the meals to savour some more beverages – which just keep coming as and when you stick your hand up. And then the desserts are again pick-one-item so we ordered two pieces of each (there are only 2 options) and shared them among us. Nutella/banana cake, and good old plain ice cream! Yum!

I highly recommend this place as an option to go for a package deal – and not just for a girls night out! The band was a lot of fun, the food was tasty and for AED249 all-in, you absolutely cannot go wrong!

Week 41 – Jersey Boys

It was a quiet, pretty routine week for me last week so I’m clutching at straws a bit here for my something new… sure, the show itself was new to me, but the entire outing was doing what we’ve done a few times now – attend a performance at The Dubai Opera.

However, the show was by no means mundane, boring or routine.

It was fantastic!

The show is basically the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons – how they came to be and their up’s and down’s of ‘stardom’, and it’s all presented with some absolutely amazing talent on stage. They had me bouncing around in my seat, singing along, clapping and ‘dancing’ as much as one can while seated πŸ˜‰

The highlight for me was definitely ‘Can’t take my eyes off you’… which I can’t help but think of ’10 Things I hate about you’ whenever I hear the song πŸ™‚

And here’s the original πŸ™‚
