Or should that be ‘Whisky Tasting’?
We’ll get to the spelling in a bit…**
This past weekend I cheekily enjoyed a belated birthday dinner with some of my Dubai friends, since I was away over my actual birthday (anything for a few extra gifts, right?! 😉 )
And for this birthday celebration, I decided to try out a whiskey tasting at Boca because I’d seen it advertised and well, why the hell not?!
On arrival, those of us taking part in the tasting had been placed at the end of the table, with our glasses already laid out in front of us… these guys mean business!
We tasted a total of 9 whiskies from USA, Japan and Scotland. Some were great, some not so great… and who knew that whiskies came with flavours and smells in a similar way to wines?! Chocolate anyone?!
By the end of the night I was stuck on 3 favourites:
– Suntory (Japan)
– Mars (Japan)
– Dewars 12 year (Scotland)
I think it’ll take a lot more drinking of these 3 to pick which one I prefer the most 😉
If you’re looking for something different to do, I highly recommend getting in touch with Boca and finding out about their next whiskey tasting… it was a really enjoyable night out!
** And now for those intrigued by the different spellings… as usual, it comes down to ‘British vs American’, but it goes further than that into Japanese, Irish, Canadian and Indian differences!
Instead of trying to explain it myself (and quite possibly getting it wrong), why don’t you pop on over to this article and have a read for yourself 🙂
